My current hair care routine – How I keep my hair healthy and split ends free?

IMG_4575c

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to share with all of you my current hair care routine. A lot of you were wondering how I keep my hair healthy and shiny, so I’m going to tell you all of my secrets. I’m not one of those people that have super big collection of hair care products. I’m not that into hair care in general, I find it pretty boring. I mean I do use quite a few products, but it’s nothing complicate. But I thought to share with you some stuff that I use and that helps me to keep my hair healthy and split ends free. It’s again pretty long post, I’m sorry about that. But I just wanted to explain everything well and give you recommendations of products that really work for me!

In my 15 Beauty Hacks post I shared my favorite hack for hair care that is to apply mixture of hair masks into hair 2-3 hours before washing. This will basically give enough time for hair to completely absorb hair mask ingredients and take all the benefits. I know that hair care brands say that it’s enough to keep mask 5 minutes in hair, but I don’t believe that. So I just take which ever conditioner or hair masks I have and use it on dry hair. I take a bowl and mix all of them together literally, sometimes I add also an oil to the mixture. Sometimes my scalp can get really dry, so I just use a lot of oil before I wash my hair.

A lot of you asked do I use conditioner together with hair mask or I use it after I wash my hair? I usually mix conditioner with hair mask before I wash my hair. I just feel like there is no point to use it on hair for like 2-3 minutes, I don’t think it does anything to be honest. If I don’t have time to do hair mask mixture before I wash my hair, then I would just wash my hair and use Advance Technique spray oil and dry ends serum (I’m going to write about these in post also). I just stopped using conditioner after washing hair, because it just doesn’t do anything, it just makes hair easier to brush out. Now on to the products that I use currently in my hair care routine!

Le Petit Marseiliais Nutrition range (shampoo, conditioner and mask)
These three are perfect together for super smooth and nourished hair. These make my hair shinny and soft, also they smell really good. The scent actually lasts for a really long time in my hair which is absolutely amazing. Shampoo is really nice, because it foams up so nicely and it washes hair really well. I use conditioner and mask together, I mix them and apply to my dry hair. I leave it on for 2 hours and then wash it off. This is honestly the best tip I can give you, this changed my hair care routine. This way you give enough time for them to absorb into your hair and make it healthy. I mean on conditioner there is 1 minute mark, but I don’t think it can do anything in 1 minute, maybe just make hair easier to brush out. I talked about these more in my recent Drugstore + Avon Haul post, so give it a read!

Syoss RENEW 7 Complete repair Instant Intensive mask and conditioner
This is one of my favorite masks. I don’t use this one all the time because it is so rich. I use it maybe once every second week. I feel like this mask gives so much moisture to my hair, it makes it silky smooth. If my hair feels really dry I like to use this one because it completely repairs and gives life back to my hair. I like to use it on ends of my hair, because it is so moisturizing and repairing. I have a conditioner from this line as well and it’s also amazing. This is my favorite line from Syoss I think it’s just incredible. This line is basically for super dry and damaged hair, so it gives you full repair. As I said I use mixture of these two every second week or once a month even, because my hair is not damaged, so I don’t need it often. I just use these to keep my hair healthy and not dry.

Planet Spa Luxuriously Refining with black caviar extract hair mask
I did review on this Planet Spa line where I explained all four products from this line, so I’ll link review here. If you want to know more about hair mask from this line, I would recommend you to read review. This is probably one of my favorite masks, because it’s magical.

Avon Advance TECHniques treatment mask
This one smells amazing. It’s the same range as a hair oil I’m going to talk about in this post. This line is enriched with supreme oils and nutri 5 complex which is really good for giving shine and glow to the hair. This hair treatment is really nice for giving glow to the hair, but it’s not that nourishing. That’s why I always use it in combination with nourishing hair mask. I think I’ll do review on this one, because I got some questions on my Instagram about this one, so stay tuned for that!

Avon Advance Techniques Supreme Oils duo treatment spray
This is one of my all time favorite treatments. I used it even before I started blogging and this one was in one of my first posts on the blog, I’ll link it here in case you want to see how was my blogging jouney! I love it. It smells amazing and it makes hair super soft and smooth. You need to use small amount because it can make hair look greasy. I use this one after washing my hair if I didn’t do my mask treatment before. Because this one is so nourishing and protecting on hair, it makes it look amazing. I find if I use this one all the time it doesn’t work as well as if you use it once a week. So I try to use this one once a week, just because I don’t want my hair to get used to it.

Avon Advance Technique Daily Shine Dry Ends Serum
This is probably my favorite hair care product ever. I used up about 10 of these so far, it’s that good. This is amazing for dry ends, it’s reparing and softening. Also if you want your hair to have a lot of shine then using this one all over the hair is the best way.  You have to be careful to don’t use too much because it can make hair oily. I really recommend this product, it’s not expensive but it works wonders.

Girlz Only Dry Shampoo for brunettes
This is not actually a hair care product, but I thought to include it because it is kinda part of my hair care routine. I try to wash my hair twice a week, but sometimes I do it every second day, because you know sometimes hair gets greasy really easy. You guys know that washing your hair too much can make it really dry and it can easily break hair and take away moisture and natural oils. So I try to do it twice a week, between washes I use dry shampoo and baby powder (15 Beauty Hacks). This dry shampoo is good because it doesn’t have white residue, it’s brown actually, so it blends with my natural hair color better. I still prefer baby powder just because it does better job.

Wet Brush Pro
As I already did review on this brush I seriously recommend you to read it. I’ll link it here. This brush completely changed my hair care routine and I would recommend it to anyone who has super tangly hair. I explained everything in that review, so make sure you read it! This is my favorite hair brush ever and I think it’s really gentle on hair, so it prevents hair from breaking.

I don’t use all of these together at once of course. I try to don’t use the same products all the time, because you know hair can really easily get used to products. I’m sure you noticed that there is only one shampoo in this whole post. Basically I just buy the cheapest shampoos because I don’t really think they make a massive difference to the way you hair looks. Hair masks and conditioners do all the job so I don’t really care which shampoo I use.

Do you take it seriously or you like to use minimal amount of products? Let me know which is your ultimate favorite hair care product in comments! Thank you for reading!

  1. This was a really interesting post Azra.
I’m always meaning to look after my hair better, but beyond shampoo and conditioner, I don’t really do much else. There’s so much to learn about the world of hair 🙂

  4. I never tried Batiste dry shampoos, because we don’t have them here. But this one gets the job done, so it’s a good one for sure. xx

  8. You’ve got a great selection of hair products here, Azra. 💕 That Le Petit Marseiliais line looks to interesting!

I have only tried Syoss and I loved how nourishing it was for my hair. Unfortunately, it is hard to find here in my country.

  9. Didn’t try Lush hair masks, I only tried their bath and shower products. I suppose the best thing is to make DIY hair mask, I’m sure that’s the best. xx

  10. That’s a shame definitely, because they are really affordable for a hair care brand. Usually the best from range are hair masks, they are always really nourishing. xx

  11. I just have Pantene shampoo and conditioner, 3 hair oil & spray, and two hair treatment. My friend applies hair oil the night before she washes her hair, but I personally can’t do that since I will have scalp acne. 😦
I also think it doesn’t give enough time for hair to absorb those conditioners. I always put my hair up after conditioning and then wash/exfoliate/shave my body, but I still think not enough time and waste of water. XD I think I will try with hair mask since I hate waiting with wet body & hair. I want to try some of these products you mention once I finish mine.
Thank you so much for these information and details! Love you ❤

  12. I also can’t sleep with something in my hair, I just find it unpleasant and weird. Try to apply hair mask or conditioner before washing, but don’t put it on scalp, maybe just to the ends. It will probably do just as good job. xx

  13. This post is a blessing! I have quite long hair and I get blonde highlights so I’m always having to slather it in conditioner and oils. I use the Avon serum it’s good but I also love one of the body shops oil, you can use it for hair and body and it leaves my hair so soft and smoother looking 💖☺️

  14. Thank you. I think that hair care for people with long hair is so much harder, because long hair takes so much to maintain good looking. I have to try that Body shop oil, because I love multi purpose products. xx

  15. It works a lot better when it’s longer in hair, like I’m sure it can’t do anything for like a minute. Thank you for reading lovely. xx

  16. Wow this was honestly such a great read, I’ve definitely taken some notes haha. I’m actually literally mixing up some hair masks right after I write this and going to apply them since I’m washing my hair today. Excited to see how it goes! Loved reading this as always x
