How to get traffic to blog and blog posts? – Pupular Blog Posts

IMG_4530x

Hello everyone! This blogging series that I’m doing currently is super popular. I’m so happy you guys love this series so much, I received so many lovely comments and messages that makes me super happy. I’m glad I can help you guys with your blog and give you some sort of inspiration. So today topic is traffic, everyone wants their blog post to be popular and read by a lot of people. Also some of you requested me to talk about this, so here it is. Let me tell you what is important to get people to read your posts!

1. Regular uploads
I mean everyone knows about this one, but it is probably the most important thing. I know how hard it can be to prepare posts, especially when you have a lot going on in your private life but if you want your blog to get traffic it deserves you have to upload at least twice a week. Honestly that is not enough if you are just starting with your blog, because you have to engage people to come to your blog. When I started with my blog I was uploading once in two weeks or even three weeks, like seriously what I was thinking? That’s why my blog wasn’t doing good at all. Last two months I have been uploading regularly and my stats are amazing. So I seriously recommend you to try to blog as much as you possibly can. But make sure that your content is good quality, because no one wants to read not interesting and bad content. Make sure your blog posts look nice and neat with pretty photos. You can also re upload your posts on wordpress which is such a cool feature. This will basically help people on wordpress to see your content. If you want to know how to do it, feel free to message me on Instagram or my fb page (links under the post).

2. Make different content but keep it your style
What I mean by this? Have interesting topics which can engage different groups of people but keep your writing style or your photography skills. I’m mainly a beauty blogger so my content is mainly targeted towards female audience, but I try to make different content that can be moved towards male as well. So that’s why I did some lifestyle posts and tags are great way to engage people. I try to review products that I thing would be interesting to read about and maybe good for people to try out. Also good things are those “click bait” posts. I’m not a massive fan of these and personally I don’t want to do them. But if you want to grow your following and get views these type of posts are really good for that.

3. Promote your blog
You can pay for this literally, but to be honest I don’t have money for that. How I promote my blog? I actually don’t really do that, but I try to engage with other bloggers so more people can know about me and my blog. That’s really good tip, because you are forming relationship with other bloggers, supporting their work but also giving people opportunity to know about you also. But don’t be one of those annoying bloggers who leave comment like “I followed you, can you follow me also” or “New follower”, or “Can you follow me”. Those things scream I don’t care about your blog, I don’t read your posts and I don’t care about you. Also, if you just leave the link to your blog or some of your blog posts that’s not good. Honestly those comments scream I don’t even know who you are but I’m gonna use your blog to promote myself. You actually are supposed to read other bloggers post and comment something that goes with theme and content of blog post. Also those comments like “Great post” or “I love this” or “Great one” scream I didn’t read this post, but let me leave the comment that goes with every single blog post. I don’t recommend that kind of comments also, because it is obvious.

4. Social media
You should have a social media profiles for your blog, I especially suggest Instagram, because literally all bloggers are there. It’s great for gaining inspiration for your blog but also promoting it and engaging with other bloggers. Facebook is good also, but to be honest facebook is not as popular as before. I do have fb page (Simple Serenity) but it’s not that popular. I need some love there, because my page is really small community. But social media is great to promote your latest blog posts and give people opportunity to get to know you better and explore other bloggers and different type of content. Also, Bloglovin’ is great place also, my profile is not doing really well, but I know that all bloggers use it, so follow me there and let me know, so I can follow you back!

5. Catchy and pretty photos
When someone sees beautiful photo there is big opportunity that they are going to click to read your post. People want to be inspired by pretty things so photos are really important to make your posts perform better. Also if you share your blog posts on instagram and other social media platforms photos are really important because they will drown attention to your blog post and blog in general. I think that taking time to take that perfect photo is worth because if your photo looks amazing, there is big opportunity that you’ll get a read just because of it and also maybe a follow to your blog.

6. Get some personal blog posts out
People like to be nosy, it’s the truth. I absolutely love reading personal type of posts on other blogs, so when I started doing them on my blog I noticed how popular they are. Honestly it feels so good to get to know person behind blog that you read. Also, don’t you ask yourself how person behind blog looks like sometimes? I do that all the time and when I see blog post with selfie I click on it right away, because it is so good to match the face with personality you meet before. So bloggers don’t be shy, share more information with your followers and let them see how you look and give them opportunity to get to know you better! Some of my most popular blog posts are “Get Ready With Me” and my makeup looks. Also, my morning and night time routine were super popular! Those are some ideas for your next post, you are welcome! Also “Day in life” posts are very interesting to read, so you can create them also.

  1. Tip number 6! I can relate to that. I get to know bloggers bit by bit when they include personal posts. It’s kinda fun reading those hehe. Specially when they post a picture of themselves, it’s nice to see how they look like. You never know, you might see them shopping or just chillin’ somewhere.

Although I’m guilty of tip number 3 for comments like “great post”, I do read the posts.

I should try your tips specially number 6.

    Thank you for the tips!

  2. I’m also like that, I love reading about bloggers, it’s great to match personality and face, so selfies are always appreciated. Those small comments kinda feel like you just drop them, that’s kind of my opinion. I like to add something related to post and at the end drop “Great post”. It feels a little bit more special that way. Thank you for reading, I’m glad you like the post. xx

  3. Great post! These are always informative & helpful.

#4 for us is the opposite, Instagram has implemented
algorithms so that only top posters get air-time (100k+)
so the small independent blogs have no chance of being
“discovered” anymore in feeds. This is a common practice
among these big business CORPORATE sites. So we stay
well away form any Mark Zuckerberg Products (Facebook,
Instagram, Whatsapp) etc. We prefer Twitter which is more
organic, fun, & we are always finding great new blogs & sites.

We have never had FOMO, so for us if EVERYONE is doing
something, chances are we will be running in the opposite
direction as fast as we can. You can’t be unique by following
the pack, in life, in fashion, & especially online. Instagram
will be replaced by something else soon enough once people
see what these algorithms are doing to their page views.

Keep up the great work, we always love stopping by your
page & seeing what you are up to! WordPress for LIFE 🌞

  4. Thank you for your information and suggestions. I personally like Instagram just because I love seeing pretty photos and it works nice for me at the moment. I’m sure it’s going to be replaced with something, that always happens. Thank you for reading. xx

  5. We check out instagram from time to time, but have
watched cautiously from the sidelines. So much is
going on now online with these algorithms in 2017.
We will continue to wait till the dust settles. 🌈⛱️

  6. Thanks for sharing these tips, Azra!
I’m new here and your tips help me a lot!
Do you think that a “day in life” post would be right for my blog? I’d like to write it for letting other bloggers know me and what I do in my life…
For the photos, I completely agree with you because when I search new blogs to follow I’m more attracted by the ones who have good pics first. But I have a problem, and I don’t know if it’s because of the theme I choose or another thing. When I upload a pic to my post, it’s not in the shape I choose but only a part of the pic. Sorry for my English, I’m Italian and I’m trying to improve it by myself. I hope that you understand what I’m trying to say, even if my English is bad…
Anyway, that’s a very good post. I wish I could write as you do, maybe one day.

  7. Thank you so much lovely. I’m glad I can help you with blogging. I think you can edit photos when you are preparing blog post, so you just click the photo and there should be edit button. I think that “Day in life” post works for any blog, so yeah I definitely think your readers would love to get a peak in your day to day life. I think I’ll have to do one post like that, because I haven’t really post a lot of lifestyle, which I’m trying to improve on my blog. Definitely try that tip with photos I think it should fix your problem.
P.S. I was also really scared about my English, because it is not my 1st language, but I think yours is great, I understood everything. 🙂 xx

  8. Oh, I didn’t know I can edit photos on wordpress. I’ll try it, anyway. Thank you so much.
If you’ll write a “day in life” post, I’ll obviously read it. I like that type of posts a lot.
Thank you for the tips, you’re very kind. ☺️ xx

  9. You can edit them the way you want them to look in blog post, you know position, layout and that sort of thing. I wrote one “Day in life” post, but it was long ago, so definitely need new one soon. xx

  10. God knows how much I struggle with regular uploads, it’s like every time I write 1 post, I automatically think, I’m going to quickly write another and post in the next 2 days and then I just loose inspiration. That’s been 1 major issue for me but now that I have a break from my uni, I’m trying to post as much as possible. This post of yours is really helpful so thank you. Have a nice day 🙂

  11. I know what you mean, when I first started with my blog I used to upload once in 3 weeks +, like seriously that’s nit good. Past two months I have been really into blogging so it’s not an issue any more. I hope you’ll get a lot of inspiration for new content dear. xx

  12. Yea, this time around Im working with a diary and everything, writing down whatever I want to post and I think that is really helping me. Also now I have started write things in advance, whenever I get time to post later. This definitely makes things quicker 🙂

  13. Thank you. When you edit post on the right side you have categories and tags, that’s where you add tags. You have space where you type which tags you want for your post. xx

  14. I didn’t do it at all first couple of months of my blog journey. But now if I have time to read others posts I always leave a comment. If I don’t have time to read posts then I don’t leave comments, I try to, but you know sometimes you just don’t have time. I do recommend commenting because people get more aware of you and your blog. xx

  15. All of your tips are so real and you can tell as you’re reading which ones you’re following and which one you need to follow more. Your statement about personal posts is right but I feel as if no one will be interested in that maybe because of one previous tag I tired and it went just okay.

Lastly, I enjoy your style of writing very much.

    Much Love!

  16. Thank you. I think that lifestyle topics work really well, but sometimes tags don’t work well. Try to make “Life in a day”, “Morning routine”, “What I do on Sunday” etc, those posts are some of the most popular on my blog, they were definitely a complete hit at lest for my blog. Thank you very much for this sweet comment. xx

  17. Of course, it’s my pleasure. We should all support one another I believe that’s what makes it al worth it. Thank you for suggestions, you’re right about these topics being popular because I myself enjoy these.
