UPDATE – How am I doing?

IMG_6817

It’s time for another update post. I decided to do this type of post every few months just to add more lifestyle to this beauty blog. Today I will be chatting about my life recently, some decisions that I made and just random thoughts that I have. I hope you like these type of posts as I love to write them.

At the beginning of February I decided to start project pan. If you are not familiar with the concept, it’s basically trying to use up some makeup or skin care products. As I have so much makeup I decided to create full face of makeup that I will use in my daily life, products that I want to get my money worth or some products that I haven’t reached for in a long time. I have been doing so good, I already used up few makeup products and it actually makes me feel really good. As I know how hard it is to use up product I don’t buy so much makeup, I try to limit myself.

I recently went through my makeup and body care collection and I realized that I have so much stuff. I did declutter of my makeup at the end of January, just trying to make more space and give away products that I don’t use at all. I picked few body and hair care items that I had for long time so I can use them up. I’m just trying to stop buying so much when I already have more than enough. So recently I’m not going on huge shopping sprees, I kinda buy just a product or two when I need retail therapy, but I’m trying to actually save money. Honestly I realized that I don’t need to buy makeup or beauty products all the time, I can live without that.

In February I got some bits from new Essence and Catrice spring/summer 2019 collection. I’m so grateful to Essence and Catrice PR for sending over products, so I can review them and share my opinion with you guys. Sometimes being blogger is hard as you need to constantly buy makeup for reviewing and making a content for blog, but I’m so glad I managed to get on their PR list so making content is easier and I don’t need to spend money on new makeup that I want to try, but technically don’t need, especially right now when I’m doing project pan.

I feel like blogging is not the same as it used to be. It looks like people got tired of blogging and there is not a lot of bloggers that actually blog. I know that life gets in way and it’s hard to make time, but it used to be easier. There were many bloggers that upload regularly, engage with other bloggers and support. Right now it’s not really like that. Also, how many of you still love Instagram? I have to admit, I’m totally off Instagram. I just can’t get back into it guys. My posts don’t get any likes literally, I don’t get new followers at all. I feel like I’m still on shadow ban, even though I use different hash tags every new photo. I don’t know I just don’t want to post if I’m being honest. I like Insta stories, those are fun.

While I’m waiting for The Weeknd’s new album I’ve been obsessed with The Carters (Beyoncé and Jay Z). They dropped album last summer called “Everything is Love” which I listen to last summer, but I still do. It’s such a good album to get you in mood. My favorite songs are: Heard about us, Friends, Summer and Nice. I also went back to Beyoncé’s self tilted album, in my opinion that is her best work so far. I love her music, but that album is just perfection.

If you follow me on Instagram (here) and watch my Insta stories then you would know that I’m obsessed with furry bags. I never knew I needed those bags in my life, but oh man I’m obsessed. Whenever I wear any of them I get compliments. I feel like they make every outfit much more interesting. I wear basic clothing, I’m mostly casual person. I like to spice up outfit with nice bag to give it a chic factor. Fur bags are definitely the way to do it. First my boyfriend bought me fur black backpack from Kendall & Kylie Jenner collection for Carpisa (here) as a birthday gift. I literally wore that back pack for two months straight. As I loved back pack so much, I got another fur bag. It’s super small cute bag (here) from Kendall & Kylie Jenner Carpisa collection that literally everyone ask me where is it from when I wear it. That one is dark green and I got matching bag charm (here) to go with it. My boyfriend treated me to Kendall & Kylie bag (here) for Valentine’s and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve been thrifting only. I don’t remember when it’s the last time I went to Zara or Mango. I just think it’s so expensive to buy clothes, when you can basically find everything you need in thrift store, good condition items, some even new with tags still on. For example I got new cashmere beige jumper for only 2$. I mean that would be more than 100$ if I were to get it in store. It had tags and I was just so happy to get it. I’m hoping to find good denim jacket in thrift store, because I really want denim jacket for spring, but they are so expensive. Also I need new jeans, so I’ll spend a lot of money on those as they are quite expensive. I usually get jeans from Mango or Bershka as I can never find jeans that fit me in thrift stores. Yesterday I actually got new H&M shirt dress in thrift store, it looks so good. I remember wanting similar shirt from Mango last summer but I couldn’t spend so much money on it. Now I have this one and I’m literally all for thrifting.

  1. It’s a shame blogging isn’t what it once was. I found it became totally saturated and lost it’s ‘specialness’ but perhaps the slight decline now could reform it and make it special again. I think there’s less engagement by a lot of bloggers on fellow blogs, which is a shame. But who knows. I’m rambling, finding it hard to focus today! I use Insta, I don’t post up regularly but I still like it. It’s Twitter I can’t get my head around! Thrifting is awesome, definitely a good thing to get into and the H&M shirt sounds like a great find; I have 2 H&M shirts both from charity shops actually! xx

  2. I totally get what you mean about blogging not being the same. I am one of the bloggers that became less consistent. But I’ve been doing a lot of rebranding and trying out other platforms like YouTube which I’ve grown to really enjoy. Slowly but surly getting a schedule in order. I don’t plan to give up blogging anytime soon, I still love it and I hope more bloggers will come back and that more will join. I would like to get into Instagram but it takes up a lot of time and becomes overwhelming when trying to blog and do YouTube along with it so I’m not much there either.

  3. I definitely agree that it is over saturated. It’s hard to keep up with everyone, obviously everyone is pretty busy, but it seems like it was easier before. I also don’t post on insta a lot, I kinda do one photo every two weeks or so, or I try to do it. Thrifting is new found passion of mine, to me it’s so fun to do. xx

  4. Oh I can imagine how hard it is to blog and do yt at the same time. Try to focus on one and do the other one occasionally. I’m sure that filming and editing videos takes a lot of time, so blog can definitely wait while you do that. I hope you’ll find good schedule that works for yt and blog and social media also. I find social media definitely time consuming, so I limit myself to spend about half hour to an hour on it. The most important is to find balance. xx

  5. It’s hard to make new content all the time definitely, it’s so time consuming. Furry bags are my new obsession, they are so chic. I didn’t even know I needed them until I got one and now my collection is expanding. xx

  6. Im with you on the Instagram front, I dont feel inspired by it at all. I use it as I feel as a blogger I have to, but it bores me. I still love blogging, but I did take a different direction with mine about a year ago. I hardly cover beauty any more, and mainly focus on lifestyle and travel. That maybe changed my audience a bit, Im not sure. I still try to catch up on blogs x

  7. Instagram used to be so fun, but now it bores me too. It just feels so forced and we as bloggers have to use it as it is easier to share latest blog posts there. It used to be my favorite social media site, but now I rarely use it unfortunately. Changing content is fine as long as there is passion. I actually really enjoy your chatty posts, when you discuss important topics. I feel like everyone loves travelling so travel posts are always interesting to read, so I’m sure that you audience loves it. xx

  8. Hey, I love these type of blog posts, actually reading up on a Saturday sipping my tea.
It’s kind of sad that you feel ‘blogging isn’t the same’ anymore maybe because it is not (I feel it too but I thought that was only me because I was not always active and present.
Definitely, guilty of being not active life before but I’m trying to change that this year (what can I do though, I don’t always feel the same excitement as I once did).
Instagram I come to believe is difficult in general, I try to keep an active account hehe for the blog.

  9. I think blogging change mostly due to money. Before there were various blogs with diaries and simple tips and hints and now everything is marketing. Everything is based on profits and instead of great content what we get is a huge commercial. I also am quite off Instagram. It tires me to constantly invent new hashtags and follower flactuations are so tiring. What I despise most is follow/unfollow tactics of more and more people.
I really like reading posts like this one. Also, thanks for the idea for the pan, I have to use up all of my products as well.

  10. I feel ya with the blogging! I love blogging but it’s def not what it used to be. I have a busy schedule and try to make time for blogging but it’s hard to catch up. I feel like the engagement has reduced on WP ever since last year but it’s totally understanding since people are busy and have other priorities in life. Glad that we are still in touch on here and on IG 🙂

I would love to actually start thrift shopping, because I don’t want to support fast fashion anymore but I am still searching for good ones in Montreal!!

  12. I thought I was the only to see blogging change. Actually many bloggers commented that they feel the same way, unfortunately blogging really changed. It is definitely different, many bloggers stopped blogging at all which is sad. I feel like it’s good to post when you are inspired, but try to have new blog post at least once a month, to stay relevant, as in blogging world people forget so easy. Instagram is so hard to me, I basically force myself to upload new photo at lest once in two weeks, just to keep account going haha. xx

  13. Instagram totally changed, it is actually really sad. It used to be my favorite social media site, but now algorithm sucks big time. I’m also so tired of trying to push my posts and I can’t seem to do it at all. People who do that follow/unfollow thing are so annoying, I hate it. Blogging definitely became super saturated and place to “ear money”. So most bloggers do adds all the time and just do it for the money. There is only few bloggers that do it as a hobby and actually enjoy it. xx

  14. Yeah, it is definitely different. I remember since beginning of last year it started changing and I though it will get back to what it used to be. Unfortunately it is hard to make time for blogging as it is really time consuming, it takes a lot of time to make one good quality post so I see why a lot of bloggers don’t post regularly. I’m also glad that we still occasionaly catch up here or on Instagram girl. xx

  15. Thank you so much. I was really happy when they send me an e mail, it was unreal. Thrifting is so fun, it is so much more enjoyable than going to busy shopping malls. I hope you’ll find great thrift stores, it definitely takes time to find good ones. xx

  16. Turns out we’re all feeling the same way but though it was a individual thing. I would say you do what you like, when you like it when it comes to blogging (don’t force it upon yourself) that’s how I have been I only create a post when I feel like sharing something nowadays.

    Liked by 1 person

  17. Exactly, that’s how everyone should do it. Because if it is forced it really shows in blog post, because usually quality is not the same as when blogger is super motivated to blog. I’m also all for waiting for creativity and mood to blog. xx

  18. I hear you on the shopping can take a huge toll financially. I usually buy basics, and I rotate clothing then sell via consignment items that I am not using after one season. I have not been blogging that long, so I don’t know what it used to be, but I am happy I found your blog where we can interact and enjoy each other’s post. Yay, happy to hear you are on the PR Catrice and Essence list. Great post. xx

  19. Sometimes all the time shopping can be really damaging. I used to spend every Saturday shopping and it really damaged my bank account, so I’m trying to stay away from too much shopping. Thank you so much, I’m so happy about it, they are my favorite makeup brands. xx

  20. I totally agree. There is only one thing more annoying than follow/unfollow and these sponsored posts where bloggers mention full product names like “and have you tried the Big Lush Extra-black Super Shiny Mascara from X today?”. Like seriously, who talks like that? 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

  21. Hahaha, you are so right. They don’t even need to pod #ad in description, because it is so obvious. Instagram changed so much, I hate it right now. It used to be so nice, entertaining and interesting. Now it’s just marketing place. xx

  22. It’s great that you are on the essence and catrice PR list! I’m super happy for you 😊 I do agree with you I feel like blogging is not the same as it used to be! I feel like I’ve been letting my loyal followers like you down as I’ve been really busy recently and I haven’t been as engaged as I was previously. Oohhh it’s cool that you’ve been thrifting! I’d love to start doing that more but thrifting isn’t really a big thing in the U.K xx

  23. Thank you, I’m so happy about it. It’s sad that most of us are super busy to engage like we used to. It definitely takes about hour or more daily to read posts from reader and comment. Unfortunately most people don’t have time for that, I try to read posts every few days to engage. But it’s definitely hard, let’s hope it will be better in summer time. Thrifting is so rewarding, it’s sad that in most countries there isn’t a lot of thrift stores. We have only few and it’s definitely not popular to thrift in Bosnia also. xx
