Today I decided to talk a little bit more about hair care and tips that I learned over time that help me to have healthy hair. You guys loved My hair care routine, so this post is like a follow up to that post. Of course things that work for my hair may not work for your hair, so bare that in mind. Also I think that hacks really help in everyday life, so some of these may help you and your daily routine. So let’s start with this post!
1. Don’t wash your hair every day!
I mean this may sound gross but you really don’t have to wash your hair every day. I think that twice or three times a week is completely fine, hygienic and there is no need to do it too much. I used to wash my hair every day and to be honest my hair was super dry, while my scalp was producing so much oil. That basically means that your hair is in imbalance. Make sure to use dry shampoo or baby powder to make your hair look fresh even though you don’t wash it every day.
2. Use oil on dry ends of hair!
This helps so much. I have my usual dry ends serum/oil that I have been using for years. It is amazing product and my hair always looks healthy even though I do use heat on my hair. You can also use coconut oil or some kind of natural oil that you use for face. My hairdresser always compliments how healthy my hair is because there is no split ends, I think it’s all due to oils and serums I use on the ends.
3. Try to use heat less!
Of course we all know about this one, but honestly it is really important. Even though I do use heat on my hair I always try to use some kind of heat protect product before. Also, during summer I never blow dry my hair, because it is hot, so why even bother. My hair does look crazily frizzy, but if you add some braids and sleep with them. In morning you’ll have perfect summer beach waves.
4. Invest in good hair brush!
Through all my life I used cheap brushes that were extremely uncomfortable on my hair. Also they were really painful because my hair is extremely tangly and I have a lot of hair, like it’s super thick. I got Wet brush pro (review) and I have to say that investing in this brush is absolutely worth it. I explained the effect of this brush in my review, so make sure to check it out if you are interested in this brush.
5. Do multi masking!
I know I talked about this hack in my 15 Beauty Hacks I swear by post, but I decided to include it here also in case you didn’t see that post. But this hack totally changed my hair care, my hair was never this healthy before. You just take which ever hair masks or conditioners you have, mix them together and apply to dry hair. Leave it in for about 2-3 hours and then wash it off with your usual shampoo. I already got response from some of you guys saying that you love to do it and that you saw amazing difference in way your hair looks, so yeah I’m telling you this is amazing hack, try it!

I used to wash my hair every day and now I only do it about two times a week and I have also noticed such a significant difference in the health of my hair! I haven’t tried oil at the ends and mixing all my products together though. I’m definitely trying those two tips out to see if it makes it even better! xx

I tried to wash hair every other day instead of everyday, but my scalp would have bums like acne. It is so strange. I have to wash my hair daily. I am thinking to skip shampoo once a while so it is less drying.
Oil does a lot to our hair. I love it. Natural and effective.

Those are my favorite tips for healthy hair, because it’s so easy to dry out hair but those help with hydration and smoothness of hair. xx

Oil helps so much with dry ends, because they are usually the dries part of hair. I definitely recommend it. Thank you. xx

My friend had the same problem, it is some kind of bacteria that makes scalp produce too much oil and clogged pores. I recommend you to go to doctor to check it, my friend got medical shampoo and now her hair is back to normal and she washes it every third day. xx

While on vacation I’ve been keeping the heat off my hair and boy is it hard but I know how good it is to give your ends a break from the heat!

During summer I rarely use heat on my hair, because it’s great way to give it a break and have effortless hair styles. xx

That is nice. I will need to find another doctor then. The one I have just give me cream which doesn’t work at all. Or I should ask her directly to see if she can give me any suggestion or referral. Thanks! I see hope.

So true! People are brainwashed into thinking that healthy hair means they need to wash it every day. Which makes it worse, which makes them wash their hair even more. Nature made us (almost) perfect. There is a reason for sebum: to protect the hair. If we take it off, then the scalp will produce more, and it’s a vicious circle. I now wash my hair…. every 10 days. And it looks perfectly fine for the first 8 days. The last two days it start looking a bit oily but I put it in a bun and voilà!

I suppose it takes some trial and error before you find perfect product, but the most important is that there is solution for every problem. xx

Can’t agree more. I heard some people saying that you are dirty if you don’t wash your hair every day. I thought they were crazy because I never used to wash my hair every day. Once a week is completely fine in my opinion. During summer I also leave it for longer, about 10 days because I wear pony tails, braids and buns during summer so it works perfectly fine. xx
